Plot summary
Stewart McBain works as a demolitions expert, bringing buildings down for a living. When protesters block the demolition of the Dutch House, the last structure on one lot, McBain goes on television to dismiss them and is made to look foolish. Daphne, Chloe and Jimmy, his college-aged kids, laugh at him for it, and he decides they are spoiled. He throws them out, hands each of them $750, and leaves them at the dilapidated house despite their mother Jean's attempts to stop him. To cover their costs, the children bring in housemates: Lionel, a fashion designer; Shitty, a homeless magician; Tom, a stockbroker; and Sheryl, an amateur occultist. Chloe must finish a calendar for an insurance company, and Lionel has designs to complete for a fashion show.
