Plot summary
Jimmy Adams works as a vice president at a hedge fund until the financial crisis of 2008 costs him the job. Feeling some guilt over the part he played in the collapse, he looks for work he considers more honest and more satisfying. After trying a number of blue-collar jobs without success, he is hired as an overnight server at Papa's Chicken and Waffles, a diner that never closes. Many of the people on the staff have served time in prison, and Jimmy forms an unlikely friendship with Edward Collins, the short-order cook, who offers him lessons about hard work and money from a different angle.
