Jan-Michael Vincent
Biography
Jan-Michael Vincent was an American actor who began acting in 1967 with The Bandits and a Hardy Boys television movie before signing with Universal Studios and taking guest roles in series. His first starring part came in the 1969 prime-time soap opera The Survivors, and he also appeared in The Undefeated (1969). He received praise for the 1970 television film Tribes and earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Going Home (1971). Other films included The Mechanic (1972), Bite the Bullet (1975), White Line Fever (1975), Damnation Alley (1977), Big Wednesday (1978), and Hooper (1978). A second Golden Globe nomination followed for the 1983 miniseries The Winds of War. Vincent then played helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke on Airwolf (1984), the role he was best known for. Afterward he worked in smaller independent and low-budget films, including Ice Cream Man (1995) and a cameo in Buffalo '66 (1998), and his final role came in 2003.
