Plot summary
Marshall is twelve and loves horror movies, while his best friend Gilbert walks out of the film they are watching together. Marshall's mother is dating Ted, and she wants her son to give him a chance. On a school trip to a museum, the boys are paired with Amy, a new girl who moved from Rockport and shares Marshall's taste in scary films. The Egyptian exhibit tells of two mummies separated, and of one that vanished. Marshall and Gilbert spot people putting a dead body into the house of their neighbor, Mr. Kubot, and Amy takes it for the missing mummy. The three slip inside to look; the mummy wakes and chases them, then hands Marshall the flashlight he dropped. The mummy follows them home, and Marshall hides him in his room and names him Harold.
