Plot summary
Lunar, a small Nevada town, is kept going by a military base and by stories of aliens. One morning a truck nobody is driving veers into Phil's home. Hope Gladstone, who runs a hiking and tourism business, is driving tourists Jack, Thad and Abby when they find Phil's truck blocking the road and a frozen meat truck with no driver nearly runs them down. Hope calls Ray, who takes the group back toward town until a yellow truck nearly destroys his car. Trucks with no one at the wheel circle the ground around the diner, Ray's gas station and Hope's cabins. News reports arrive between bursts of static, one of them describing a huge black cloud leaking from a chemical plant accident close to the base.
