Plot summary
Trouble is a pampered dog who has always lived in the mansion of his wealthy owner, Mrs. Sarah Vanderwhoozie, looked after by her butler, James. After she dies of natural causes, Trouble is left alone in the house, unaware of what has happened. Her niece and nephew, Claire and Norbert, arrive to claim the estate and clear out her belongings. Their aunt's will requires them to take care of Trouble for three days before the lawyer, Mr. MacBain, will let them sign, so when they realize the dog is gone, they hire Thurman Sanchez, a tracker, to find him. Trouble ends up out of the truck that carries the belongings away, and after a run-in with a pack of red squirrels he loses his collar and looks like a stray on the city streets.
