Plot summary
A cross-country move lands the Gundersons in a new town, and the three kids expect different lives there. On his first day, Charlie is marked as the least popular senior, and Billie, an outcast, offers him a crash course in the school's clique system. Lori, a dancer, learns that dancing is banned in the town and that the only place to dance is the secret sessions Gabriel, the janitor and a former dance instructor, holds in his garage. Barred from the sessions, she slips out to join him. Charlie vows to win popular Kimberly by taking on her boyfriend Kipp in the school decathlon, training with the gardener Mr. Yamagashi, while Billie pines for him from afar. Max, a reclusive genius, works on a highly advanced home computer that the CIA takes an interest in.
