Plot summary
Hooded assassins attack Granger in his home in modern-day Vancouver, and after he fights them off, a time portal drags him centuries into the past, to the Kingdom of Ehb, where an old prophecy concerns him. The kingdom is at war, and Granger falls in with a group of allies, including a doctor called Manhattan. Raven, a tyrant, holds the land in his grip, and the leader of the Dark Ones is a witch known as the Holy Mother. Granger's task is to kill her, free the kingdom, and find a way back to his own time.
