Plot summary

In 1882, on the outskirts of an Old West town, an elderly prairie dog narrates, and a man named Clem, who dislikes prairie dogs, tries to harass one and is kicked by a horse onto a cactus. August Critchley has been expanding his control of the land, and the Double B Ranch is the only spread outside his reach. Betty runs the ranch, where Jerry Mouse and his nephews Tuffy, Scruffy and Duffy live and eat most of the egg-and-bacon muffins she cooks. Betty is waiting for her brother Bentley, who arrives by horse cart with his cat Tom; Tom spots the ranch she-cat and tries to impress her with a lasso trick.
