Plot summary

A ghostly outlaw has been scaring off the residents of Sorghum City, so Shaggy's distant cousin Tawny Rogers asks the Mystery Gang to come to her ranch there. The vandalism is blamed on Dapper Jack Rogers, an ancestor of Shaggy and Tawny. The locals flee from Shaggy, taking him for the outlaw. Tawny and neighbor Rafe show them a picture of Jack, whose legend as a masked horseman turned outlaw once drew tourists to town. The gang moves into the ranch to stop the ghost and meets the other guests, among them Buddy G, a young musician afraid of horses. Jack appears that night, firing green flames, and Fred traces the color to boric acid. Tawny says the Black Rattler Land Company has bought foreclosed businesses, and her ranch is next.
