Plot summary
Sarah and Julie, five-year-old twins, overhear their single mother, Rhonda, saying she could use a break from the two of them, and pick their great-grandmother's house in Edgemont as the place to spend Christmas. They sneak onto a city bus, learn it only goes downtown, and climb into the back of a delivery truck belonging to Eddie, a driver who has a crush on Rhonda and no patience for children. He finds them, and over the trip he warms to the girls, even buying a lottery ticket using the twins' birthdate. Meanwhile their babysitter, Stacey, notices they are gone and tells Rhonda, who calls the police. Eddie promises to bring the girls back the same day, but before they reach Rhonda a pair of thieves drive off in the truck with Sarah and Julie still inside.
