Plot summary
An American businessman, Jack Woods, is on holiday in Ireland. On a hike he comes upon Kathleen Fitzpatrick swimming; she chases him off, but he is smitten with her. That evening he saves the drowning leprechaun Seamus Muldoon, who in gratitude brings Jack to meet Mary, his wife, and Mickey, his son, and opens the leprechaun world to him. Jack settles into sharing the house with the little people, who help him get to know Kathleen. Mickey, meanwhile, has fallen in love with Jessica, a fairy princess, and the two begin a relationship. Jessica's cousin Count Grogan opposes a match between leprechauns and fairies, who are traditional enemies.
