Plot summary
Don and Christine Farmer cannot pay their bills and may lose their house, so before Halloween they visit Christine's aunt Agatha to ask her for money. She refuses. While the girls wait outside, Agatha's gravedigger tells seven-year-old twins Kelly and Lynn about Agatha's twin sister Sophia, shut up inside the house and reachable only through a mirror hidden in the attic. A witch's moonstone, the source of Agatha's power, can break the spell, but only twins can use it, and Agatha wears it around her neck. On this Halloween, the seventh since Sophia vanished, the spell becomes permanent. Kelly and Lynn set out to take the stone, meeting Mr. N, a man with dreams of money and stardom, who offers his help.
