Plot summary

Madison and Michael Roland mark their first wedding anniversary, and when Madison raises the idea of starting a family Michael grows irritated, since he does not want children. He is pleased when she leaves her job to stay home full time. Madison finds a vial of testosterone he has been taking so that she cannot become pregnant, and the argument that follows ends with him striking her. Michael later accuses her of knowing that a colleague is interested in her, and at an office party his anger at her turns physical again. Madison tells her friend Chelsea about a positive pregnancy test, and four months on she takes a job with Chelsea and admits that Michael questions whether the baby is his and that he has hurt her. Chelsea urges her to go to the police, and Madison refuses.
