Plot summary
Annie Bird is a Cree woman from Moosonee whose identical twin, Suzanne, worked as a model and was last seen in Toronto before she vanished with Gus, her abusive boyfriend. Annie lives with her mother, Lizette, and is close to her uncle Will, who once flew bush planes and still hunts. Invited by a friend for a vacation in Toronto, Annie stays there to look for her sister. She contacts Suzanne's modeling agency about the paycheck she was owed and is referred to Jesse, the photographer behind Suzanne's last project. In Moosonee, a drug dealer named Marius reads Annie's departure as a sign that someone in her family expects to go into hiding and has Will followed.
