Plot summary
Michel Gerfaut lives in Paris with his girlfriend Béa and earns his living at the poker table. One night he drives to a card game and comes upon a crash; the driver is still alive, and he takes him to a hospital. A newspaper article then reports that the driver was a high-ranking official, that he died, and that two other officials were killed that same night. The three were on the point of exposing a deal in faulty guided missiles. Two gunmen had watched Gerfaut at the wreck and believed he was a mercenary hired by competing arms manufacturers to sabotage the deal. They come after him, and people who cross his path are killed as well.
