Plot summary
Gary makes his living as a hustler, walking the streets of New York City in search of business, and his real name is never revealed. He steps in when a group of gay bashers sets on Kid Joey, a young deaf transvestite who has just arrived in the city, and Kid Joey becomes infatuated with him, following him everywhere. Gary brings the newcomer into his circle: Valentino, who used to act in porn, and Mary Carmen, a Mexican waitress at a doughnut shop who has been living with Valentino and is in love with him. Veronica, who still works in porn, and Nat, a tattoo artist, belong to the same bohemian family, and Gary loves Valentino as well.
