Plot summary
George Trent, a British agent, has stopped communicating from Ibiza. Angus, who heads the spy agency, sends Appleton Porter to the island to learn why Trent went quiet. Porter checks into a guesthouse kept by Mona Lewis. The other guests there knew Trent as a neighbor, and Porter questions them about him. None of them knows what became of Trent. Porter himself is clumsy and inept on the assignment.
