Plot summary
Jim Hawkins and Henry B. "Wahoo" Jones work a racket with Sam "Polka Dot" McGee: Wahoo drives a stagecoach, passes word of its route and cargo to the other two, and is fired at while they rob it, so that no one suspects him. When lawmen surround their camp, the three scatter, and Sam is not with them when they meet again. A Texas Ranger rides shotgun on Wahoo's coach, so Wahoo will not let Jim rob the stage and takes him aboard as a paying passenger; the Ranger guns down two robbers on the road. Short of money, Jim and Wahoo enlist in the Texas Rangers, meaning to profit from the position.
