Plot summary
Ollie Sway is a young collector of records who, after his father takes his own life, comes back to the lake house his family owns, and he brings Nikolai, a rowdy Russian drifter who is his only friend. The two of them mean to take an invaluable jazz record, a 78, out of the family estate. Charlie Sway, the grandmother Ollie has been estranged from, turns up at the house without warning, and her visit throws off what the pair had planned. Across the lake, Ollie meets by chance a girl named Isadora, and the encounter pulls him away from the record, toward the history of the Sway family and a suffering passed down through its generations.
