Plot summary
In ancient Egypt, King Memtep forges a sword called the Fang of Anubis after bargaining with the god of the dead. The blade draws its strength from the souls of everyone it kills, and their names are written into the Book of Souls. Centuries later the warlord Nebserek digs up the Fang and sets out to build an empire. Tala, a Nubian warrior, hunts for the Scorpion King to stand against him and frees Mathayus, a blacksmith believed to be that figure, then brings him into her search for the Book of Souls, the relic that can stop the warlord's campaign.
