Peter Mensah

Peter Mensah, an actor of Ghanaian and British background who is based in Canada, is best known for his portrayal of Oenomaus in the Starz series Spartacus, which ran from 2010 to 2013. He was born in Ghana, grew up partly in England, began training in martial arts at six, and first came to Canada as an engineer before turning to acting. His film work includes Hidalgo (2004), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Tears of the Sun (2003) and Gladiator II (2024), as well as 300 and Avatar. On television he appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise, Witchblade, Relic Hunter, Earth: Final Conflict and La Femme Nikita, took a recurring role during the fifth season of True Blood, and was part of the repertory ensemble for A Nero Wolfe Mystery and for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. He voiced Predaking in Transformers: Prime and supplied the voice and likeness of Sgt. Zach Hammond for the video game Dead Space.
