Plot summary
A memorial service is held for Rex Black, thought to have died in a gliding accident, though no body was found. Rex is alive, and his wife Stella is collecting the life insurance money as revenge on the company that refused him an earlier claim. Stephen Maddox, an insurance investigator, questions Stella about whether Rex could have killed himself. Rex, in hiding, wants the payout sent to Málaga and Stella to follow. He travels under the passport of Jim Jerome, an Australian sheep rancher.
