Plot summary
Pendelton "Penny" Wise makes his living selling over the telephone, and the travel comp vacations he offers are phony. His employer folds and he needs cash quickly. Caitlin Carlson approaches him about a job, because she is recruiting telephone salesmen for Kelly Grant, a telemarketing legend. Grant's current venture is the sale of shares in a gold mine, and Penny is unsure whether the venture is legitimate. He also begins a relationship with Caitlin, Grant's mistress.
