Plot summary
In the 17th century, the pirate Robert the Terrible attacks a ship of the Kingdom of Monterria and captures his teenage nephew, Prince Alexander. Alexander's younger sister, Princess Eloise, and her servant Willory send a device the king made, the Helpseeker, to find heroes who can save him. In the present day, three misfits, George, Sedgewick and Elliot, are busboys in a pirate-themed dinner theater. They want their loved ones to see them as heroes, though as cabin boys they think that dream is out of reach. After they accidentally damage the set while auditioning, they lose their jobs. The Helpseeker finds them, Elliot switches it on, and the three are carried back in time to Monterria, where Eloise and Willory meet them.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie (2008)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- This was not meant to be the second VeggieTales feature. A prequel called The Bob and Larry Movie was scheduled for release in 2005 until Big Idea went bankrupt and was acquired by Classic Media, which killed the project in mid-2003.
- Phil Vischer finished the pirate script back in 2002 and made a point of the timing: he had written it before Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl reached cinemas in 2003 and set off the pirate craze.
- It is the last VeggieTales film to involve either of the series' two creators. Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki both left Big Idea over creative differences in the years after it was finished.
