Plot summary
In New England, Vince has built the most successful divorce law practice of anyone in his field. He is a notorious womanizer who has affairs with the clients he represents, and the same competitive streak shapes his dating life, where he moves from woman to woman without settling down. He treats his life as a contest, and losing is not acceptable to him. Jane is a young divorcee, and she resents men and is every bit as driven as Vince is. When the two of them meet, Vince is intrigued, and they agree to a series of bets. Each wager carries a stake for whoever loses it.
