Plot summary

Benjamin Keynes, a CIA agent, joins a US Army Special Forces team in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, under Chief Warrant Officer Wally Hamer. Keynes tells the soldiers their assignment: to locate Mohammed Aban, an influential Afghan cleric. Hamer briefs his men, among them Sergeants Vincent Degetau, Joe Trinoski, Tim Cole and Pete Sadler. From a village that Aban comes from, the team takes a guide, Abdul. Abdul leads them into the mountains, where the cleric is known to hide. Deep in the mountains, the team's radio and GPS stop receiving. One night, two headlights approach, then split apart and climb into the sky.
