Plot summary
In the seventh century a monk traveled from Europe to China. He now lives in a cave on a mountainside above the Eastern Ocean, and two children, one Chinese and one from the West, come upon him there. The monk keeps a hundred painted scrolls, and each one records an event in the life of the Monkey King, Sun Wukong. From them he tells the children the story of Sun Wukong.
