Plot summary
Helena lives a quiet suburban life with her husband Stephen and their daughter Marigold. She hides her past: her father Jacob kept her and her mother Beth in the Northern Michigan wilderness for years. Jacob is serving a prison sentence for that. When he escapes during a transfer, federal agents arrive at Helena's home to ask if she has been in contact with him. Helena says she has not spoken to him since she was ten. Stephen then learns that his wife never told him about her childhood, and he leaves with Marigold to spend the night at a hotel.
