Trailer

Plot summary

A decade after his Army service, Tom Rath lives in Connecticut with his wife Betsy and their three children and writes for a nonprofit foundation in Manhattan. The pay is small, his grandmother's inheritance amounts to an unsellable house, and Betsy presses him for a better job. A tip from a fellow commuter leads him to an opening in public relations at the United Broadcasting Company, where his blunt application catches the eye of the network's president, Ralph Hopkins. Hopkins wants Tom's help with a national mental health campaign. Tom also carries the war with him: the men he killed, and Maria, an Italian woman he knew while stationed in Rome.
