Christopher Benjamin

Christopher Benjamin was an English actor whose stage and television work spanned 1958 to 2016, with radio credits from 1965. Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and spent six years in repertory theater before more than twenty years with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He played Nick Bottom several times and retired from the stage in 2012. On television he became known for cult roles, playing Potter in Danger Man and The Prisoner and appearing three times each in The Avengers and Doctor Who. His Doctor Who work included Henry Gordon Jago in The Talons of Weng-Chiang, later revived for the Jago and Litefoot audio plays, as well as Sir Keith Gold in Inferno. He played Sir William Lucas in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice. His films included Ring of Bright Water (1969), Hawk the Slayer (1980), The Plague Dogs (1982), voicing Rowf, and Angel (2007).
