Biography

Conrad Brooks was an American actor who became closely associated with the films of cult director Ed Wood. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he moved to Hollywood in 1948 at 17 to pursue acting and met Wood in a donut shop, agreeing to appear in a short western Wood planned to direct. Brooks worked in more of Ed Wood's movies than any other performer, including Glen or Glenda (1953), Jail Bait (1954), and Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957), and he also appeared in The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961) as a pilot. After stepping away from acting in the 1960s and 1970s, he returned in the 1980s as a prolific performer in low-budget movies and also wrote, produced, and directed several films. He appeared briefly in Tim Burton's Ed Wood and later in a remake of Plan 9 from Outer Space made in 2015. He died in 2017.
