Plot summary
Mary and Michael live in the same house but are estranged from each other. Both are deep in extramarital affairs, Mary with Robert and Michael with Lucy, and both lovers have demanded that the marriage be ended. Mary and Michael have vowed to do it once their son, Joel, finishes a visit home with his new girlfriend, Erin. An early-morning kiss between them leads to sex, and the two find themselves drawn back to each other, which makes the lovers' demands harder to answer. Joel has warned Erin that his parents' marriage is a failed one, and he arrives at the house tense and wary.
