Plot summary

Polly Regan is an orphan who lives with her grandfather on his farm. Her favorite mare is about to give birth, and Polly learns the mare may not survive the foaling. She asks the King of Horses to spare the mare and her foal, but the mare dies. The foal the mare leaves is a real baby unicorn. A photograph of the foal in the local newspapers draws crowds of sightseers to the farm, and not all of them mean well.
