Plot summary
A Scottish island in 1840 holds only a few residents when a vessel breaks apart on its rocks. Three sailors survive the wreck and reach the shore, and the locals take the men in. The sailors stay on the island, waiting for the boat that will carry them to the mainland. While they wait, the strange past of the island, once a vibrant place, comes to light.
