Plot summary
Mikey comes home from collecting candy on Halloween night and hears his babysitter and her boyfriend tell the legend of a boy who was never allowed sweets and now roams the streets each Halloween looking for them. Billy Thompson, sent to egg the house of a neighbor who never hands out candy, is caught by the man himself. Four friends giving out candy open their door to a small witch. In the woods, a girl dressed as Dorothy Gale runs from a killer. Two robbers grab a millionaire's son, and the father refuses to pay. Alice, Isaac and Bart surround a trick-or-treater dressed as a cowboy, and a teenager in a creature costume hands her a drawing of the Demon of All Hallows Eve.

- Tales of Halloween was the idea of filmmaker Axelle Carolyn, who wanted a Halloween film set in the same town on the same night and recruited a group of directors. She pitched it to Adam Gierasch and Andrew Kasch at a birthday party.
- Joe Begos joined the project and wrote a script but dropped out to direct The Mind's Eye, and Lucky McKee replaced him, flying to Los Angeles to direct his segment.
- Mike Mendez's segment "Friday the 31st" began life 18 years earlier as the opening of Dead Stuff, a film he co-wrote with Dave Parker.
- Adam Gierasch, writer of Mortuary and Crocodile, first pitched Axelle Carolyn a romantic short for the anthology, and she rejected it.
