Plot summary
Kitty Carroll, an attractive and adventurous department store model, is fired by her sadistic boss, Mr. Growley. Wealthy lawyer Richard Russell funds the eccentric Professor Gibbs, who has invented an invisibility device. Kitty volunteers to become the machine's first human test subject. The device works, and Kitty becomes invisible. She intends to use her invisible state to get even with Growley.

- John Barrymore had trouble memorizing his dialogue while shooting, so he cut the script into pieces and placed them around the set, behind vases, phones and other props, so he could read his lines. The detail comes from his co-star John Howard.
- Margaret Sullivan was originally slated to play the invisible woman because she owed Universal one more film, but she failed to report for the role and was barred by a restraining order from working elsewhere.
