Plot summary
Gypo Nolan has been expelled from the Irish Republican Army. In 1922 Dublin he wants to leave the city behind and start over in America with his girlfriend Katie Madden, a streetwalker who has no ten pounds for the crossing. Gypo runs into Frankie McPhillip, an IRA comrade who is a fugitive and has hidden for six months, and the British authorities offer a reward for information about Frankie. That money would buy two passages to America.
