Plot summary
It is 1897, and Oscar Wilde has served two years of hard labor for gross indecency. Freed and separated from his wife Constance and their children, he reaches Dieppe, where old friends Reggie Turner and Robbie Ross are waiting, and takes the name Sebastian Melmoth. He writes to Constance, hoping to make peace with her. Young Englishmen recognize him, taunt him and chase him into a church, where he defends himself violently, and the police warn him. Oscar then meets his former lover Bosie Douglas again, to Robbie's anger, since Robbie's own devotion to him has never been returned. Oscar and Bosie go to Naples together.
