Plot summary
Danny Hart makes documentaries. He boards a train at Grand Central Terminal for the ride to upstate New York, where he will interview the people taking part in his current project. He expects nothing more from the journey than a pleasant trip. During the trip a young woman, Lexi, crosses his path, and the meeting carries him away from his settled routine into events he cannot easily separate from his own imagining. Afterward he tells his story to a police detective, Lloyd Martin, who questions him to determine whether Hart is the victim of the affair or a suspect in it.
