Plot summary
The gendarmerie brigade of Saint-Tropez is retired to make way for a younger breed. Ludovic Cruchot, its chief, settles into the castle of his rich wife Josépha, where he has nothing to do but quarrel with the butler. Word reaches him that his old comrade Lucien Fougasse has had an accident and lost his memory. The retired gendarmes gather once again and take Fougasse on a tour of the places where they once worked, hoping the sights will bring his memory back. They put on their old uniforms, now illegal, and set off through the streets they used to patrol.
