Plot summary
In 2048 the New Founding Fathers of America are re-elected and restore the yearly Purge, and nativist and white supremacist movements spread nationwide. Juan and Adela, a Mexican couple, enter Texas and settle near Austin, where Juan takes a job at the Tucker family ranch and Adela finds work in town. Ten months on, as the 2049 Purge approaches, they take shelter with a migrant community inside a walled sanctuary guarded by armed men. Adela sees a nationalist Purger group call itself the Purge Purification Force and declare its aim of killing anyone it judges non-American. The community gets through the night untouched. Come daylight, the two go back to work and find that a number of their co-workers have not shown up.
