Plot summary
Ann, 33, works at an anonymous corporate job and has a casual BDSM relationship with Allen that has lasted for years. She remains detached from her judgmental parents and from Allen, who shows little interest in her life. Her employer gives her an award for one year of service even though she has been there more than three, and her manager assigns her to a project that would make her own position obsolete. Ann starts dating Thomas, a younger man who writes music for children's films. That relationship fades when he reunites with his ex. Her sister moves in while her marriage is strained by her husband's infidelity.
