Plot summary
Harris Caron drives his cab through the night, listening to a radio broadcast about aliens who travel in time and have altered the nature of reality, when a young woman who calls herself Penny climbs in and asks for the corner of River and Elm. They talk, mildly flirtatious, until she vanishes from the seat behind him. Harris calls dispatch; The Dispatcher has no answer for a vanishing passenger and tells him to reset his fare and head back to the city. He resets the odometer, and the ride plays out again, though this time Penny never gives her name. When the car crashes, Harris grabs her hand and calls her Penny, and she tells him to remember her before she disappears once more.
