Plot summary
Dylan and Leah, both eight, come across a magical black stone in the woods, and when Leah's family prepares to leave, the two promise to stay friends. Years later Dylan works as a novelist. After a car strikes him, a woman who was riding in the car briefly checks on him and drives on, and he recovers from his injuries in the hospital far faster than expected, which he attributes to the stone. Back home he tells his wife, Emily, that instead of writing a new book he has been using his hacking skills to gather government and corporate secrets for an exposé. Emily's drug use worsens, and Dylan is troubled by dreams of a mystical book. He starts seeing a psychologist, who draws out childhood memories he had pushed aside.

- Neil Breen self-financed Fateful Findings entirely from savings from his parallel career as a licensed architect, saying that if he waited for investors the films would never get made.
