Plot summary
A war between humans and robots has left an alternate 1990 in disarray. Sentre CEO Ethan Skate built Neurocaster technology, which uploads a mind into a drone robot, and the robots were banished to the Exclusion Zone. In 1994, teenager Michelle lives with her foster dad Ted and refuses to use a Neurocaster at school. A sentient robot, Cosmo, reaches her with gestures and a few recorded words and leads her to believe her younger brother Christopher is guiding him. With the veteran Keats and Herman, a robot who takes several forms, she travels toward Dr. Clark Amherst.
