Plot summary

Solo Harrington is a writer in Los Angeles with writer's block, broke after a year of classical psychoanalysis. His psychiatrist, Dr. Nourmand, tells him in a final session to get a pet, and Solo buys a scrawny terrier. The dog is not house-trained, and money he owes Benny, a loan shark, brings threats. Casper, Solo's womanizing friend, suggests selling the animal to Jules, a wealthy dog-lover. Solo meets Lola at a dog park, and when her pit bull bites his terrier, she lends him the vet's fee.
