Steve Jones
Biography
Steve Jones is an English guitarist best known for playing in the punk band the Sex Pistols. He was a self-taught guitarist who became a member of the Sex Pistols before their 1978 breakup. He then co-founded the Professionals with drummer Paul Cook, and the group released I Didn't See It Coming in 1981. Jones worked with Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan, Thin Lizzy, Johnny Thunders and Cheap Trick, and released solo albums including Fire and Gasoline in 1989. The short-lived supergroup Neurotic Outsiders, formed by Jones in 1995, included musicians from Guns N' Roses and Duran Duran. Rolling Stone ranked him No. 97 in a 2015 list of great guitarists. He began hosting the radio program Jonesy's Jukebox in 2004, and in 2018 he received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. His film appearances include The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle (1980), Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains (1982), and The Filth and the Fury (2000).

Jones was the oldest member of the Sex Pistols, the band he co-founded in 1975 after it was reformed from the Swankers.
Big break
Jones swore at interviewer Bill Grundy on the Today program in December 1976 after being goaded, which helped make the Sex Pistols notorious.
Behind the camera
Jones produced the self-titled debut albums for Buckcherry and American Pearl, both Los Angeles-based bands. Buckcherry's album came out in 1999, and American Pearl's followed in 2000.
A change of course
Jones began hosting the daily Los Angeles radio show Jonesy's Jukebox on Indie 103.1 FM in February 2004, with no direction from station management.
