Plot summary
In Montréal, Jay Mallory earns his living as a contract killer for an international criminal organization. One cold winter day he comes home to his downtown apartment and finds his wife, Celandine, gone. Their marriage was sometimes stormy, and at first he thinks she left him by choice. His main contact, Burbank, tells him her disappearance may be connected to his last hit, and then Burbank disappears as well. The organization sends Mallory to Suffolk, England, on a new assignment that comes with almost no information, not even the name of the target. He is told Celandine had an affair with an Englishman, Roland Deverell. In London his new contact, Atkinson, hands him the weapon for the killing.

- Shot in 1977 in Montreal, the thriller was the first production of film producer Garth Drabinsky, making it his debut in that role.
- Eric Boyd-Perkins originally edited the film, but the version that reached Canadian cinemas in 1983 had been re-cut by "film doctor" Fima Noveck, credited with saving "any number of other ailing" movies.
- When some funds ran out at the last minute, Jake Eberts stepped in to help raise money for the film.
