Taken to Brian's hacienda under Bobby's name, Kearney meets Elizabeth, who cares for Kit, a boy of twelve. Elizabeth tells him that Kit, the boy in her care, is Bobby's son by Huertero's daughter, and that Huertero, the girl's father, blames Bobby for abandoning her.
